Winter

heady summer days
lead to cold winter nights
and it will soon be time

it will be foggy again
the mist enveloping
love will still be a mystery
fleeting
like the seasons..
doesn't everything come and go?
over and over

I'm trying to find a good copy of Ingmar Bergman's Summer with Monika (1953)...think it's time I saw this one, in the killing heat of Delhi. These stills from the film, have always fascinated me. Maybe its the the youth of the actors....their complete immersion into each other.....

And here are below some random words of me own.....
Summer oh summer!

let me run free in a wide meadow
ill sleep intoxicated in a flower bed
and dream sunny dreams

--

brown eyed boy
i watch you look
into a space
far out
take me there
where i can stay
watching you gaze

--

the music breathes me in
into a state of ecstasy
i reach the edge and flow
in and out over and below
closing my eyes
i enter my fantasy
dancing a dream

Life is a Haiku

I've been attempting haiku writing off late...inspired while reading Kerouac's Dharma Bums mostly. Some crude attempts below (all are not technically correct).

Happiness-

meditating
under bodhi tree;
writing haiku poetry

the inane brings
sublime joy;
kills mundane

yellow wildflowers
sing in autumn;
riverside blues

Depression -

need that love
in you;
i sink

thanks for the drink
tonite;
i die

i fall into
the abyss;
rising from within

waves of melancholy
rising and falling;
time stands still

feel so gone
at my age;
i need - a drink, a good meal, dessert, deep inane silly conversation, love. besame mucho. s'il vous plait.

Random -

bored
on my workstation;
coffee spills

she fills the blanks
of an excel sheet;
colored boxes

Fading Light

what's better than fading sunlight at dusk
does the heart feel a slight chill
as the sun escapes into the thick of the trees
or do those receding rays leave their last touch
of warmth on your face
with the breeze blowing gently in your hair
and the sun glowing its way about
what's better i ask of you my dear friend
than this time that fades in, and fades out

.....written on an aimless Saturday as I sat in office looking out at the rays of winter light.

I drank endless cups of tea
that flowed from pots
and not cups....
tea, tea, tea
ginger, lemon and honey....
is the soulful combination
of divinity

Home

i have traveled to lands
and made them home
with people
known and unknown
faces and spaces
have taken me in
when i knew not
what home meant
i yearn for that place
where i can be called
your own,
if home is where the heart is
let it be shown

Out of my deeper heart a bird rose and flew skywards.

Higher and higher did it rise, yet larger and larger did it grow.

At first it was but like a swallow, then a lark, then an eagle, then as vast as a spring cloud, and then it filled the starry heavens.

Out of my heart a bird flew skywards. And it waxed larger as it flew. Yet it left not my heart.

World is an Oyster

Through my lens, looking at you

I love the feeling of strangers smiling into my camera. Travel Portraiture fascinates and haunts me. I wish I could capture every face I saw. Every face I see. Some pass by so quickly and stay in my mind forever. Some smile, while others stare through.

I enjoy imagining what it'd be like for that cute American or Spaniard to spot himself in one of my photographs online on sharing websites like flickr.com. Would I fill him/her with the same joy as they filled me with? Not just when my shutter clicked, but endlessly as I look at them now and then. These collection of faces are not just pictures of people frozen in time. They are experiences. A Treasure trove of real people, preserved in photo chemicals.

That they are strangers, makes them more attractive and mysterious. I dream about their back-stories and write these set of words........for you and for them.

Look at Me
As I look at You
My Lens is your Mirror,
And my Window
To your Soul
Say what you feel
With your Face
And I'll preserve You

Spacial Void

It began from a void
An Emptiness
Hollow and bare
But a million particles
Burst open
Life, small and big
Yet alone
In a mass of humanity
In our loneliness
We must bear
Exude and Consume
Ourselves
Tiny specks of Air
Random atoms
and Molecules
Zipping across lanscapes
Searching, uniting, breaking
Living and dying
In this spacial void

Ladakh
--

Misty mountains,
Barren crags and blades of grass,
How are you so beautiful?

Winds and snow have carved you,
Made you unique and,
Filled you with mystique
Brown mountains of Ladakh
Love owns you
And peace flows from within you

You’ve been more human
Staying still,
Watching me as I went by you
And left me drunk
Wanting more

Harsh mountains of Ladakh
Your beauty shines through
Trying to survive you

You were music to my eyes
Memories are your stage
Perform for me
The dance of life
